Logistics in the DNA
Armazéns Gerais Murundu S.A. was founded in 1958 as an MMJE’s coffee warehousing unit in several significant localities in the coffee Brazilian market.
In 1978, Moreira Salles sold his company equity stake for the traditional Londoner business establishment E.D. & F. Man, which negotiated agricultural commodities.
Thales de Almeida Martins, Marcellino Martins’ son, managed the company in this new phase up to 1985, straining for implementing in the coffee company a more professional than familiar organizational structure.
In a scission occurred in 1994, Armazéns Gerais Murundu separated from the Marcellino Martins group and continued in the coffee processing sector, serving several exporters in the region of the municipal district of Serra, State of Espírito Santo, adding the third parties’ goods storage service.
In that same year, a warehousing unit was created for document keeping in Rio de Janeiro, also rendering storage services. Thus, there was born the embryo of what would come to be the AGM Logistics. |
